A few noteworthy goings-on in doubles/mixed doubles:

- The Bryan brothers -- seeded No. 3! -- lost in the third round.

- The No. 1 women's doubles team of Hingis and Mirza are also both playing mixed -- and will face each other in the QFs: Sania Mirza (IND) [1] / Ivan Dodig (CRO) [1] vs. Martina Hingis (SUI) / Leander Paes (IND).

- The relatively newly minted No. 1 men's doubles team of Rojer/Tecau lost in the QFs.

BB are chasing Rafa into Oblivion. They finished 2015 without a GS win and now cannot even make the QF. In the mean time, 60 year old Nestor has reached SF playing with Worm.

The QF that pits Sania and Martina in opposite ends will be a block buster and so will be staged in RLA.
But, I think Hingis and Paes will win that one.

Today, three Mixed doubles QFs were played and seeds 2, 3 and 4 lost.

I predict that whoever wins the battle between Martina and Sania wins the whole event.

Mirza and Dodig (the #1 seed) defeat Martina and Paes in the Mixed Doubles Quarterfinals.
IMHO, this match is the de facto final. So, I expect Mirza and Dodig to win the remaining two matches and lift the trophy.

Women's doubles finals is going on. Mirza and Hingis were a break down, but just evened it up to 4-4.

The Czechs will serve for the 1st set now at 5-4.

Of the 9 games played so far, 7 were breaks. Sloppy match.

Also, funny thing happened. One of the Czech girls hit her partner with the ball while playing.

Santina wins the first set with a well played tie-break (7-1).

Now, let us see whether they clean up the act and play a good second set.

Hingis is having trouble serving throughout the match. She just now coughed up a break while serving for the match.

Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis break to win the match. 7-6, 6-3 :clap

This is the pair's third GS. Moreover the three are in a row and if they can get RG trophy, it will be Santina Slam. :clap

Mirza is having a great tournament. And now right after winning the women's doubles, she has to play the mixed SF.

Do you think they will get RG?

Today's match was very sloppy. There were more breaks than holds in the match. I am not impressed.

Men's finals between Nestor & Worm vs. Murray & Soares.

Nestor and Worm together are 80 years old. :)

p.s. That is literal and not exaggeration (43 Nestor + 37 Worm)

What is poor Judy going to do if both of her sons lose their GS finals? :cover

Sania and Dodig, the #1 seeds lost to Vesnina and Soares, #5 seeds.

The funny thing is that Soares used to be Sania's partner till last USO and since they seemed to be not having success, Sania changed partners, only to lose to her old partner. :lolz:
