Welcome to the boards prathew! Nice to have you. :)

I read your write up and liked it. Of course I'm a fan of Novak, so I may be a little biased.

Has Murray really failed to live upto expectations? He's surpassed what I expected from him already.

At this rate, he may retire as a GSV (grand slam virgin) :(

Murray's lived up to expectations so far. It's not like his career is over. He's a consistent top 5 player, two-time Grand Slam winner with a chance to make it three, has reached multiple finals in 3 out of the 4 slams, won a ton of Masters 1000 events, etc...

He's done very well.

^ Well he's been ranked as high as 5 in 2013. Not too shabby. Shame he hasn't done better in the big moments though.

I think he has. When you are lumped into something called a 'Big 4' which include Fed, Rafa and Nole, you sort of think he would've won more slams/matches or matches against the other three in the group.

I don't think he's quite there yet.

In past era's Murray probably would have won multiple Slams! The problem is the "Big 3" have been so consistent and reliable at major events that he didn't get a little assistance like Roger in '09 at the French Open! Federer may never have won it if not for Robin Soderling who eliminated Nadal in the semi! Other eras had their "Big 3 or 4," but you had instances of upsets, injuries, or other circumstances that gave the 2nd tier of pros an opportunity to win something major; Gomez (FrOp), Gerulaitis (AuOp), Krajicek & Ivanisevic (Wimbledon)! :popcorn
