Djokovic Missed the opportunity to become GOAT candidate ?

I am saying this because , his losses at 3 slam finals .

2012 USO - He played excellent tennis up to semi's but in
the final he forgot how to hit forehand and lost to clearly
inferior player .
I couldn't believe that Djokovic who who beat federer twice
with two match points down lost to Murray.
If you see the highlights of SF , F at USO 2012 , you can clearly see difference between his forehand .
How it is possible such a drop of level in two days ?
I don't want give hurricane excuse , he played really bad .

Second - Wimbledon final 2013

Again same story Facing Murray in final .
Played excellent tennis to beat delpo in SF .
His backhand , Defence ,forehand was better up to SF .
In final his game looked off , again forgot how to hit
forehand . Lost in straight sets .

USO 2013 Final -
Was leading the match up to 3rd set
Hit 21, 19 winners in 2nd and 3rd set resp. but mentally
Weak , lost to 10 times inferior player to him.

If he have won that three tournaments he would have won
9 slams , and 3-4 more will establish him inGOAT category .

But shame he lost his passion ,now he is coming back .
Let's hope Hw will win 10 majors at least.

The bit in bold is pushing a bit don't you think :s:nono Nadal is 10 times inferior to no one and I'm no Nadal fan. I realize English isn't your first language so maybe this was a typo and that's fair enough. Otherwise, if you actually meant it I suggest using google translate or failing that, get prescription glasses and you'll see Nadal is definitely not 10 times inferior to Djokovic.

Great thread. Would read again.

Just glancing at the thread, I believe those 3 losses really hurt his historical standing! Add on 2012 FO final after losing 2011 semi to Federer; which broke his unbeaten streak! He had all kinds of incentive to do so much better in the 2 subsequent years! He had a real chance to reach the top 5 players of all time, but I think his window may have closed! He may get a FO before all is said and done, but there's been too many "just misses!"

Stupid thread. Technically every GS loss hurts someone's legacy because that makes them less great by 1 slam.

This post shows how old you are .
We are talking about player who have developed his game
against two GOAT candidates .
He have ability to become GOAT candidate , We are not
talking about one Or two slam wonders like Roddick ,
Murray , Par cash
Murray lost 5 finals but it doesn't affect his position but
for nole , Who deserves more .

Even with 9 slams Nole would be far off from being a GOAT candidate. Nole is not the first one to wet the bed on the big stage. In fact if he hadn't wet the bed on the big stage he'd be the first of his kind. And that's the point, every great player can lament missed opportunities throughout their career. That's just what happens when you're good enough to put yourself in position time and time again. Fed has 7 losses in finals, Rafa has 5, Nole has 6, Sampras has 4, etc. They'd all be even greater players if they had won just one of those that they lost.

Fed's 7 isn't that bad since he's on the downside of his career! You expect a final's loss now! Both Nadal and Nole have a big '6' already and are still at their peaks! It's going to happen again; to both of them a few more times!

The guy is an amazing player and will probably add to his slam total. He is allowed to lose here and there, you know.

Short of something catastrophic, he will add to his slam total. With Roger in the twilight of his career, combined with the uncertainties of Rafa's future (perhaps retiring because of knee problems, or at least taking additional lengthy breaks to recover), plus the absence of upcoming genuinely great players, the opportunities to win slams will become increasingly abundant over the next few years for Novak.

If Rafa were to retire tomorrow, Novak's main threat at slams would be Murray. And if Andy were to lose early at, say, the US Open, you might as well hand Novak the trophy, and be done with it.
