What a guy. Last at-bat at Yankee Stadium, and he hits a walk-off single. He says he may not have been the most talented man on the field, but he believed that no one worked harder. And he was the mentally toughest. There's a lot to be said for that, as far as success.

2-A number to be associated with the Captain for generations to come. It was like living through The Natural in a way--the old guy up there to give it one last shot. It was a movie ending to a storied career. Men and women were crying with joy--tinged with nostalgia for a time gone by--as they watched Jeter come through in the clutch yet again. Storybook stuff--stuff that will live on in our memories.
