Nice to see up and coming #154 Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan making the main draw of the Delray Beach Open! He's a bit small (173cm), but he could soon be Japan's No. 2.

Do you see better potential in him than in Ito or Soeda?

Good question. I like what I see, but I'm concerned about his size. He could be in the Top 100 for a while but Top 50? He'll need some Hewitt in him to do that I think.

Nishioka beats #133 Sijsling 5 and 1. Good job Nishioka! As a reward, you will probably get Isner in the 2nd round!

On a side note. I can never look at Sijsling's name without remembering that Bette Midler song. :dodgy:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand Isner promptly goes out 4 and 4 in the first round. Matosevic gets the win and faces Japan's young Nishioka in the second round.

What's wrong with Isner?

Also, Querry got injured and retired. With Isner also losing, the Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal of
America are now gone in the first round itself.

James Black, who's now working for the USTA, says he's really really excited about the up and comers.
