Sad news : according to l'Equipe, Delpo will travel to see Dr Berger in Rochester (USA) very soon, his left wrist is painful. It could explain his bad results in AO
Poor Juan, he's plagued by injury, hope it's not too serious

That sucks. Hopefully as you say nothing too serious although I think his poor result at the AO was his own fault and down to fatigue from poor scheduling. No top ranked player in their right mind should play a few days before a slam :nono

He might have hurt that at home. I won't ask what he was doing but there's no mention of any tennis :snigger

I remember when on the old forums, back in 2008, I said this guy is very injury prone and someone on the forums (who's still a member) went crazy over my "baseless" assessment. \

Sucks about Del Potro. I honestly don't think his career will turn out as great as it could have.

It's a shame alright. The fact that he's won pretty much nothing since 2009 with his ability says it all. Unfortunate is an understatement.

Poor guy indeed, if it's not Juan thing, it's another. No mention of surgery anyway at least but wrist injuries for a tennis player are an absolute disaster.

He says there was some pain during last year's USO, and it started again in the first round of AO, getting worse in the 2nd, where he lost. It's the right wrist…the one that cost him a year of play. This is bad news. Hopefully, they fix him up in a hurry. I was thinking he might play Buenos Aires, for example, to bolster his new ranking.

Actually tennis.com says it's the left one but they're so inaccurate with news who knows.

Actually, I looked it up in the Argentine press, and it IS the left. They were talking about the old injury in the right, and I misinterpreted it for skimming. Thanks for clarifying. While it's bad that the wrist is bothering him again, it's LOADS better than if it were the right again. Thanks, Front.

You know, big guys like him usually are injury prone in tennis, but his injury has got nothing to do with him being big. This is just unlucky. I hope he rehabs it properly this time. I am not sure if he took care of the initial wrist injury all that well...

Way better alright. If it were the right one again I'd be gutted for him. Now I just have to feel gutted for myself as he's gonna be slicing like a butcher again now with his backhand :nono:s

Yes, and he's got thick wrists, too…not delicate looking ones like Monfils, who's also had wrist issues. I'd be surprised if he hadn't rehabbed his wrist properly, initially, since he'd had such a debilitating problem with the right. But I guess athletes do ill-advised things often enough...

He'd better lay off the PlayStation, then.
