Who'll win DC's final in Lille ??? I'm going with France 3/2 if unlucky, 4/1 if lucky
Can't wait, DC's final always been one of my fav moment, even when France isn't involved

Can't help but think Mirkagate will have deeper implications than expected, but on the positive side for the Swiss, Stan has relocated his banjo. But back on the negative side, Federer's back spasms may not let him play great tennis. These things can hang around longer than a week.

The French are rested and they're playing at home, but they're still French so I'm going with Switzerland to win. It's a match for heroism, and the French aren't known for this...

Apart from my French connections,( my mother would throw Baguette's from Heaven down on my head if she ever though I would root for anyone else than France to win the DC finals)

I honestly feel that the French team are in the box seat to win.

Allez France!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did Federer practice today?

No according to Eric Salliot on Twitter...No Federer at last practice session of day.Revised on earlier. If he 'only' practices on Thursday, will be at 9.30 or after the draw.

Okay there are so many different opinions on Twitter regarding Roger and his practice session

Just updated on Twitter from SI tennis

"Federer spends less than an hour on court in first practice session since his ATP finals withdrawl"

This also has been confirmed by other posters on Twitter.

A wonderful article by Steve Tignor to remind us that there were times when the tennis isn't all that important, except as an instrument to achieve something higher...

I might be in the minority but I do not believe this is something that is important for Roger. It is for Switzerland though. So they should put the healthiest team they can field and Roger should just relax and heal. He has a long season coming up. He has done his job for his country...many times, in hopeless situations.

I feel the exact same way. DC isn't anything for Roger's tennis career but he would absolutely love to help win it for his country and therefore he is probably going to play even if he shouldn't. One can hope his back is at least better than it was after last Saturday.

Except that, they don't have any one else. The other two in the team already at 1xx ranking
and 3yy ranking. They may be worse than 30% Roger.

Having said that Roger should not play, if playing can further aggravate his injuries.
Otherwise, he should play even when carrying injuries.

Although many of us feel that this is not important for Roger, I get the distinct impression
that Roger feels it is important to him.

There are a million things that can go wrong with a back...I should know, I have been suffering for over 20 years. If Roger's recent problem is just a random spasm, by all means, he should maybe try and give it a shot. But if it is the same problem that made his 2013 suck like a vacuum cleaner, he should go back to Switzerland now.

From Christopher Clarey on Twitter,

Monfils was asked what he wants from the crowd of 27,000 in Mauroy Stadium
Monfils answer "une ambiance de dingue' ( a crazy atmosphere).

This is optimistic, given that Federer pulled out of a huge match with a bad back. Can he really recover in time? It seems highly dubious to me. I expect him to play at about 60% and be very vulnerable to an upset. However, what'll help him is the French are notoriously shy when it comes to plunging the dagger. Stan will be the hero, but it'll go down to the wire...

Whoever wins the first match (Tsonga-Wawrinka) wins it.

Perhaps the difference between all the practice the French team have had over the last few weeks versus real match sharpness?
