Rounds 1 of the Davis cup ahead this weekend.
15 of the top 20 players not playing, meaning a lot of countries that could do better probably will not.
My predictions:
Croatia-Spain: Strong Spanish team even without Nadal takes out Croatia who are playing without their top 3 players.
France-Japan: Strong French team makes short work of overmatched Japan.
Belgium-Germany: Zverev brothers power Germany to a win over Goffin-less Belgian team.
Russia-Serbia: Serbian team with Djokovic easily handles Russian youngsters.
Argentina-Italy: Italian team takes opportunity to beat defending champs playing without del Potro.
Canada-Great Britain: Probably the most interesting match of the round, leaning towards Murray-less British youngsters over Raonic-less Canadian youngsters due to Dan Evans' recent form.
Australia-Czech Republic: Kyrgios plays well for his home tennis association when he's not feuding with them. He leads them to a victory over Berdych-less Czechs.
Switzerland vs. USA: USA sending a strong team to handle Swiss team without the top two one-handed backhands in the sport. Easy day for the Americans.
In short, I am predicting that both finalists from last year lose first round this year. R2 results way too hard to predict yet because who knows who will show up to play in that round.
