I guess it is worth a thread, isn't it?

I am rooting for Argentina, but I like Cilic too so I wouldn´t be too bothered if Croatia wins.

The doubles match will be crucial, and will be a battle...

By the way, who wins?

I think if Delpo loses his first match against Dr. Evil, it'll be difficult for the Argies. Deep Heat has won their previous four matches, but H2H counts less in the DC. I sense an upset, which would be a pity, because I'd like Juan Martin to nab the DC at last...

I remember the poor and pathetic behavior of the Argentine crowd in the DC 2008 against Spain, Feli and Verdasco playing the final and winning, yes!. Gooooo Croatia!!!!:clap

Is Nalby the captain of Argentine team by any chance?

The spotted Argentinian fat former sportsman was Maradona.

Croatia leads 1x0 but Argentina can be happy that Delbonis took Cilic to five sets. Every drop of energy will be important in the MC x JMdP showdown sunday.

Dr. Ivo just did a Houdini act in that tiebreak! In fairness, Del Potro was too passive in those final points in the tiebreak.

C'mon del Potro!! Good win, but he clearly got tight here and there. Got to step a bit up to sunday.

Kudos to Karlovic, he played a fine match and fought till the end.

Doubles match will be, as I expected, an all-out war. More than a third of the stadium is filled with Argentinians. Croatia has the (on paper) best doubles player (Dodig), but Argentinian doubles always play tough and solid. With Coric out, a lot of pressure on the second player. Given Cilic 5 setter, it would be a very dangerous move to put him on doubles. But I still give Croatia a bit of an edge, as the safer bet for the rubbers to come is the Karlovic one, I do not think no one else in the Argentinian team can beat him on this surface. The other two rubbers are up in the air...

I agree with your assessment. But, as per that Argentina has only 25% chances of winning the tie.

What are the expected doubles teams at this time

As for now the DC site is giving Mayer and Pella against Dodig and Skugor. It is a tough match, put I would give 2 out of 3 for Argentina in this one.

I bet these names will be changed at least three times, before the final teams appear on the court.
Expect JMDP to play again and also Cilic to play again tomorrow in doubles.

Yep... I guess that´s exactly what will happen, even if I would not even think about sending del Potro out there. Last time around they did it and it backfired completely, luckily for them the guy who stepped in for del Potro in the reverse singles did the job...

Last time, it was a mistake to send JMDP to play doubles. However, I believe his services are absolutely needed in doubles. If he does not play doubles, he may not even get to play the reverse singles and so all that saving him could be for nothing.

I guess JMdP x Cilic is the fourth match. He could not take the toll last time and I do not think he can now. And they lost, anyway. They have two good doubles players, that if I am not mistaken had already played together, so I would not send him in any conditions. But I agree that it is a tough call to let your best player out in a match that can possibly seal your fate (if Croatia wins, IMO, is over).
