Her's is a very sad story. Note that the age-limits were changed because of her. And I do remember a very pushy father, I think. Much the same often happens to child film stars. Whether true or not, they can perceive that their family's fortunes depend on their performance. It's too much to put on a kid. I hope she's happy away from tennis, but it doesn't seem so. It would be nice if someone could gentle her back into some kind of involvement, even if it were just working with young girls at a local academy, like Sanchez-Casals. Agassi is very poignant on how much his father made him hate tennis, but he's found quite a bit of redemption and renewed enthusiasm, on his own terms. One hopes for something like that for Capriati.

The article is pretty harsh to be honest. I don't think she's a recluse... she's just disengaged from tennis on a day to day basis... although she was pretty vocal about Maria Sharapova's drug test.
