Good one here on the Swedish tennis scene in 1988. That year Sweden won the Grand Slam. Includes Mats Wilander, Edberg and The King. The King looks so different with his short hair look.

Be nice to see a new elite generation of swedish tennis female and male.

I lived and played tennis in Stockholm at that time.
Didn't know/realise how wonderful that era was - took it for granted.
It was kinda expected / the norm for Swedes to be at the top.

Robin Söderling could have carried the torch aloft more recently, but for the devastating Mononuclear.

They definitely had a golden era, some timeless champions - and gentlemen of the sport, too! I don’t think Soderling was ever in that same class but he had the right attitude. Borg was the first player I couldn’t watch his matches because I was too tense. I remember going out to play football in the street after the first set of the 1980 Wimbledon final. If I’d sense I’d have realised that this game is too demanding of its fans and never watched another game of tennis..
