This is a fantastic bio: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/episodes/billie-jean-king/film-billie-jean-king/2637/

It also deals a lot with the notion of equal pay. I know that can get folks hot under the collar, but I'd hope they'd watch this before blowing a gasket. (Again.)

I got no problem with equal pay. King is one of the greats of the game. But she was sandwiched between GOATS like Court on one end and Evert & Navratilova on the other. That's going makes just about anyone's major record look second tier. She did herself no favors by failing to compete in Australia and sneering at red clay. She did herself and all of us a great favor by competing in mixed and doubles. There is and never has been anyone more tireless in marketing this sport in all levels from recreational and junior through senior events. Billie Jean loves everything about tennis and it shows.

PS, she can teach anyone of any generation or or gender a thing or three about tactics, strategy or the fundamentals of the net game. The only folks not susceptible, are those too foolish to listen to a woman.

anyone of any generation? rubbish, another crap attempt to glorify some player who asked for money she didn't deserve.

for starters, i bet guys like Laver, Mac, Edberg would not want her advise at how to perfect their game at the net. It's like asking a 3yo to teach Ali how to box, what amazes me is someone actually thinks it works. Is this kind of attitude/concept still in fashion?

or the earth is square....

Actually, I think BTURNER is right. Only a fool would disregard the thoughts of BJK on anything relating to tennis. Would she be able to coach a top player now? Most likely not. But coaching isn't the only teaching...

only a fool.... indeed, and he referred specifically to the 'net game' which is the point of my response, and you apparently didn't understand.

Get this, BJK is not able to teach anything regarding the net game to the top volleyers, she isn't up to it. Don't make a speech before you understand what's being discussed.....

Why would they ask her to? They're all retired. The point is only what she could advise forward. Anyway, Ricardo, your hair predictably went on fire about the notion of women and equal pay. Did you actually watch the documentary?
