I am convinced that the big 4 play a game amongst each other. The game is called, who can give Berdych the best whipping. Fed made a strong statement today, so I wasn't lazy and I looked up all of their h2hs.
Worst beatdowns:
1) Federer
Best of 5: Roland Garros 2005 ( 6:3 6:2 6:3)
8 games!!!
Best of 3: Hamburg 2005 ( 6:2 6:1 )
3 games!!!

2) Nadal
Best of 5: Davis cup final 2009 ( 7:5 6:0 6:2 )
7 games!!!
Best of 3: Monte Carlo 2007 ( 7:5 6:0)
5 games!!!

3) Murray
Best of 5: Wimbledon 2016 ( 6:3 6:3 6:3)
9 games!!!
Best of 3: Shanghai 2015 ( 6:1 6:3 )
4 games!!!

Djokovic
Best of 5: Australian Open ( 6:1 7:6 6:1)
8 games!!!
Best of 3: Beijing 2014 ( 6:0 6:2)
2 games!!! Jesus Christ (in a final no less)

So overall, Novak gave Bendych the best(worst) whipping when it comes to best of 3 with Fed being one game away from the same feat, while Nadal gave him the best whipping when it comes to best of 5.
Can't say I'm surprised.

I honestly feel bad for him now.

Sorry; he's part of that gutless crowd I've been talking about for years that won't make the simplest adjustment to win! He likes being the whipping boy of the "Big 4" and I have little to no sympathy for him! His brother from another mother is Ferrer; just gutless! :nono  :dodgy: :cover

Yeah true. Berdych in particular tried to become the perfect player with no weakness and worked a lot on his movement and backhand, but all he ended up doing was become less dangerous overall for a bit of consistency.
Roger talked about this.
He said something along the lines of:
being complete/solid is great and all, but if your weapons aren't sharp, no warrior will fall to them.

You left out Roger's World Tour Finals (6-4, 6-3) beat down in 2015 when he drop shot Berdych to death. And the Indian Wells 2015 bagel beat down ( 6-4, 6-0). AND the 2015 Rome Masters Get That Mess Outta Here beat down (6-3, 6-3). Basically except for 1 tie-breaker set at Aussie Open last year Roger has owned Berdych since he lost to him in Dubai in 2013. Coaching changes aplenty - and yet Berdych is going backward - not forward.

Problem is - adjustments wouldn't help Berdych. As hard as he hits it - it'll never make him faster or smarter on the court. He's like a taller Dimitrov. By he time he figures out that he's being outmaneuvered and tries to make adjustments - the match is over.

Well, in fairness to Berdych he almost got Nadal back with his 6x2 6x0 7x6 (allowing 8 games) 2 years ago here in Australia. He also had his painful wins over Federer, and one important win over Djokovic (Wimbledon semi). Against Murray he does not have any very important win, but at least the H2H is not that loopsided... (11-6).

Interestingly, I seem to remember that there was a time when Berdych owned Nadal - like other big flat hitters, e.g. Blake. Of course, Rafa eventually made the adjustments, turned it all around and never looked back. That's one of the things that makes him great, and has allowed him the success off clay that some never thought he'd have when he started dominating on that surface. :clap

What's even scarier is that in the last six years, only 4 of the 54 Masters tournaments have been won by non-Big Four players:
*2016 Cincinnati - Marin Cilic
*2014 Monte Carlo - Wawrinka
*2014 Canada - Tsonga
*2012 Paris - Ferrer

2010 saw three non-B4 win Masters: Ljubicic, Roddick, Soderling. You have to go all the way back to 2004 to find a majority of the Masters not won by B4 (and that's because Andy and Novak weren't on tour yet, and Rafa was 17-18 and not yet prime).

Crazy dominance. That said, I'm hoping to see at least 1-2 Masters won by someone else this year. Next year could be more, but it probably won't be until 2019 that the majority are won by non-B4 members.
