Worth mentioning that top seed Kohlschreiber was eliminated in his first match by Leonardo Mayer

And why do you think that? Mayer might be a clay specialist, but he is not done anything remarkable as of yet in his career, while Phillip has 2 titles on clay and has been in 3 more finals on that surface.

I could be wrong, but I think Mayer manages to spoil every so often, and Kohlscreiber seemed to be a bit tired of late.

I'm pulling for Monaco; as to the other, could be a good match...they're both 6'3", both have a few wins on clay, though adding in Granollers' doubles wins, he'd have a lot more. And he's self-declared to prefer clay. I know I always go with the Spaniards, (well, not always...see preceeding,) but I'll pick the Barcelonan.

At the beginning of the week, you mentioned Granollers could go deep. Did he go ever???

After I saw this morning on the ATP site displayed a 6-0 bagelling of Granollers by Monaco, I never could have imagined that the Spaniard could come out the winner, but he did:huh:
0-6, 7-6, 6-4

That's a fairly odd scoreline, LOL! Not quite WTA-esque as the 2nd and 3rd sets were very close but still lol.

It's only the second time a player has won a title, after losing the first set 0-6.

That's true...good for me! I just thought the draw opened up a bit for him when Kohlschreiber went out. He did a great job of hanging in for the wins against Haase and Monaco. It wasn't all that pretty, but it was good to see a player who won't give up on his chances.
