OK, so I will be writing a year-end blog handing out awards since well, that's what everyone does at this time of the year. I'm not quite sure about the format yet (ie one big article, or a countdown of the best matches, moments, shots, etc...). Regardless, your suggestions and input would be appreciated. So help refresh my memory and name some of your favorite moments of the year. I'll be creating another thread about the best shots of the year, and we already have one about matches of the year (which you can find here: http://www.tennisfrontier.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1465 )

So, favorite moments of the year: Go...

PS: I realize "moments" is a bit vague but and can be a shot, match, or a story, but just throw whatever stood out to you.

Murray winning Wimbledon stood out for me.. (and Bartoli actually) - career defining moments where you could see a lifetimes' work being rewarded.

I'll think of some more....

Those two make it for me as well. Andy really solidified things for himself and then got injured. Marion reached the pinnacle and stepped down (I have a special place for her so I was VERY pleased she won the biggest of them all).

Good call, Britbox. Murray winning Wimbledon is probably the greatest story of the year. That last game in the final might be the game of the year too, although Rafa serving at 4-4 in the third at the US Open has a good claim on that too...

You know, in retrospect, tented may be right that the launching of our very own Tennis Frontier might be the best moment of the year. Think of all the laughs, joys and frustrations we would have lost out on in reading the tit-for-tat between Cali, Broken , Kieran and the rest were it not for Tennis Frontier! :)

It's going to be tough to beat Murray and Bartoli winning Wimbledon for the top slots.

I like all of tented's shout-outs. He mentioned the third set of the USO final, and Kieran said Rafa serving at 4-4 in that set. I was going to say Rafa's first set point on Nole's serve at 4-5, 30-40. I was tucking in for a long trade of deuces, and likely the eventual TB, when Nadal converted on the first opportunity. It happened so fast, it took me a moment realize he'd just won the set.

This is on a personal note, and it won't help you, BS, but in the 5th set of the Nadal/Djokovic semi at RG, I went into a meeting with Rafa down a break. When I came out, it was over. I missed all the drama, and my team told me Nadal had won. That was a great moment for me. ;) :snigger

There has to be something from the Djokovic-DelPotro semi at Wimbledon…maybe DelPotro forcing the 4th set TB, then winning it? Or maybe just the whole match.

I'll throw a few around so that I don't end up forgetting them when I get down to writing the article:

Darcis beating Nadal and Robredo beating Federer. Not sure about "best," but they were certainly among the most significant moments of the year.

Those are surely significant upsets: Nadal beaten by very much an also-ran, and Federer by an aging warrior. You could probably put the Stakhovsky upset in there, as well.

And if you're calling out "fascinating" or "unusual" moments, there were two net-touches that were heard 'round the world: Djokovic at the FO SF, and Raonic v. Del Potro in Canada. That doesn't feature every year.

I fixed that for ya, Isabelle, cos you got confused and thought that the indoors part of the season was actually bigger than the Really Big Moments... ;)

I thought this is an opinion pole. The latter would be the worst moment of 2013 along with Roger Federer's atrocious play, at least in some people's mind.

Murray winning Wimbledon,
Stan coming out of Roger's shadow a little bit,
the "old" guys aside from Roger who played well like Haas, Robredo, Ferrer, etc.

1) murray wins Wimbledon wasting djokovic in three,
2) del potro blasting rafa off court in tokyo or shanghai,
3) nadals comeback,
4) Federer winning a grasscourt tourney,
5) rafa winning the the same major for an 8th time.
6) watched borna coric and Christian garin..so when they are world no 1 & 2 in 2018 I can claim I 'discovered' them before all the johnny-come-latelys can claim they were fans for ages also. :)

Afraid I don't have that excuse but don't go putting ideas in my head. I don't like feeding cocaine addictions more than I already have :clap

1. Andy Murray winning Wimbledon. To see him lifting that trophy one year after losing his fourth straight Grand Slam Final was a very special and touching moment.

2. The ninth game of the third set in the 2013 US Open final. That whole game showed Nadal's steel resiliency. In addition, that game decided the winner of the match.

3. Match point between Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka in their 2013 Australian Open match. If you watched the rally, it truly signified how amazing and spectacular match that was.
