Murray has the slight advantage in H2H overall now, with Murray having the better of it recently with 4 straight wins..
Prior to 2015, Berdych had the 6-4 advantage.
However, these two have never played each other on grass.
Given the above, I prefer to look at very recent form in this case. They have both played well.
Berdych has had the harder road scheduling wise, draw wise, and was playing mostly on outer courts.
He chewed up the promising younger players, first beating the talented Zverev, then a very tough Vesely who has really lifted his game recently.
He looked superb against the fast rising young Pouille. If he can find that level, I think he'll be very tough.
Berdych can certainly play on grass and slippery surfaces.
Recall that he beat Federer and Djokovic on grass in 2010 to reach the final, losing to an inspired Rafa.
Recall that he made the Madrid 2012 final on the slippery blue clay.
He also might be extra motivated to show Lendl that he is not one to be brushed off.
Murray looked good in early rounds, but thanks to a Kyrgios implosion, had a fairly easy draw until Tsonga, where he was pushed to 5 sets.
He put quite a bit of emotion into that match. Like Federer, it will be interesting to see if he comes out flat or not after the 5 set match.
Murray's second serve has improved, but still looks vulnerable. Tsonga took it task in the QF third and fourth sets with Murray winning less than 25% of second serves. Murray needs to put more first serves in to avoid being broken.
If the warm sunny weather continues, the ball might fly through the air faster giving Tomas an advantage, but it will also bounce higher, giving natural retriever Murray a bigger defensive advantage. Andy has the better return of serve, which might give him an advantage unless Berdych has great placement.
On grass, it usually comes down to who can take the most advantage of break point opportunities.
Intangibles? Can't think of any, though the cameras will probably focus a lot on the players' wives.
Good luck to both players.
Respectfully,
