Nice - Novak will have had almost 48 hours between matches. Hopefully he will be able to get out of the gates quickly. The O2 at night will be a huge pro Fed venue.

What are the odds of David Ferrer scoring back-to-back victories over Nadal in the span of 3 days?

He has? :puzzled

I'd say the chances are slim to almost non-existent. But I am rooting for the guy I can stand the least. ;)

:) I've always enjoyed Rafa's game. He just happens to be Novak's rival and I find him quite annoying when the ball is not in play. So just so we're clear: I'm rooting for Ferrer.

Funny enough, I enjoy Novak's game too. I think Rafa has a surplus of energy and his tics are increasing in volume so rapidly he'll have little time left for tennis soon...

Best news of the day for me...Federer v Djokovic is on at 8pm local time here. Had hoped it would be but thought maybe it might be the early one in which case I'd have missed it. Delighted I can watch it now. Should be a cracker hopefully. I actually have high hopes Fed wins this one if he plays like he did last weekend but just maintains that first serve % past the first set. If he can't get first serves in he won't be dictating points and then he's in trouble and Novak will lap that up.

Can London keep the World Tour Finals?

Yes Rafa, let's play a bunch of tournaments on fast low bouncing hard courts and then suddenly switch to clay or grass for the last week of the season. Not self-serving at all because he only cares about the future generations!

I enjoyed that article Iona and wouldn't mind at all seeing it stay in London. I can also see the point of moving it around - especially doing a stint in South America.

I saw that, and if they're to keep to their long standing policy of sharing it, then it has to move. Unless the policy changes. By the way, I also have sympathy with Rafa's argument. Indoor tennis isn't representative of the season at all - but of course, at this time of year, it couldn't possibly be played outdoor without deranging the travel expectations of players totally.

Maybe the name should be changed to the World Indoors Championships?

But the problem is that it IS indoor season. What sense does it make to play a bunch of tournaments indoors or on fast outdoor hardcourts and then suddenly play on clay or grass the very last week. The tournament has to be played on some surface so might as well not do a total 180 for just the last week which would undoubtedly cause a pretty poor show.

I disagree. I mean, the other surfaces have their Grand Slams, indoors is a big part of tennis, at least amateur tennis in countries with a colder climate, its fair to give it a big event.

' "But that doesn't mean the ATP cannot be a little bit more fair to all the players. We qualify on all the surfaces, so it would be great to change the surface every year."

Nadal knows he is unlikely to benefit from such a change, but he's doing it for his children - or for the next generation, as he prefers to put it. '

Fair to all the players? How about changing RG to hard court?

Future generations is also lol worthy. He should talk about it after he retires then.

I agree - we should have a proper indoor season, but the tournament name should possibly change.

Also, add a few more indoor events, just like they'll hopefully upgrade a few grass court events when Wimbledon moves back. We don't need 3 clay MS events. Make Queens a grass MS event and force Shanghai to go indoors (if we're to persevere with China), to add balance to the year...

It's right, he's not going to benefit from a change, so why shouldn't he say it now?

Make RG a HC slam? That'd give others a shot alright! :Lolz:

I think we could lose one of the North American hardcourt MS. There are 4 of them (out of 9)! Lose Miami, or IW.

And yes we need a grass masters.

The thread is derailing already and we don't need Nadal2005rg for us to do it :)
