I like the name of #6 seed.

Could not for the life of me find out who dropped out. So it's Miss Dropped Out from the land of Didnotshowup.

Franny got to the QF of Istanbul so she's probably tired. Cibby isn't quite back yet. No excuse for Jovanovski as that was a winnable match.

I think Karen Knapp will get this title. She was very close to winning last week. Was up a set on Stosur in Bad Gastein in the final.

Friday's Results!

Quarterfinals
(1) A Pavlyuchenkova (RUS) bt K Flipkens (BEL) 6-1, 6-3
(2) K Knapp (ITA) bt A Panova (RUS) 6-2, 7-6(4)
M Gasparyan (RUS) bt E Rodina (RUS) 6-3, 6-2
P Tig (ROM) bt D Vekic (CRO) 6-3, 6-2

Pavlyuchenkova (I can now spell that without checking once!) and Knapp appear to be heading for a showdown. Like kskate2 said, Knapp should be itching for a title after that near miss against Stosur last week.

Whoa! Knapp was down 6-4 3-0 and facing a break point when I went to do something, then I come back to see her leading 3-6, 7-5, 2-0. :eyepop

I should have stayed away. Knapp loses the third set 6-3. No title again. Who is this Gasparyan? And Plavlychekova losing as well? To.....Tig?

The weird or strange WTA tournament in Baku has come to an end. It's THE international tournament with the fewest spectators - this is a picture from the center court at the final today - not many to make an atmosphere is it - max 500 in the whole hall ( there can be 10000)

Congrats to Margarita Gasparyan (RUS) for her first win we'll see a lot more to her in the future:

Margarita Gasparyan (RUS) d [Q] Patricia Maria Tig (ROU) 63 57 60
