If Brisbane is Rafa's and Doha is Novak's, this is Murray's tournament. Like Doha, not as interesting as Brisbane, in my opinion.

I thought Murray is playing in Doha along with Novak.

You're totally right. My bad. I guess that makes Chennai more and less interesting at the same time. Cilic is the top seed and then it is all the way down to Roberto Bautista Agut. Hell, even Mikhail Youzhny is seeded.

Casper Ruud made it through qualifications. He's a young gun to watch.

There was an important match between the top teenager prodigies, born in 1996, in R1 here: Coric and Chung.
They both had disappointing 2016 seasons, falling back in the rankings.
Chung came out on top in 2 sets. This is another setback by Borna, who will now fall out of the top 50.
Perhaps he is not 100% yet following his recovery post surgery.

I think both will eventually sneak into the top 20 for a bit but mainly hang out in the 20-50 range.

Medvedev is an interesting player to watch. He seems to be in that second cohort talent level, along with players like Khachanov and Edmund.

I am following Medvedev's results, yet another giant from Russia on the horizon.
He may catch up to Khachanov quickly and also surpass Coric who is stuck in the mud.
