This is it folks, last mixed event of the year. Since it's a mixed event, we will have a mixed thread!

Talk both leagues here...

ATP Players:

WTA Players:

http://www.kremlincup.ru/db/players/?change_grid=0&grid=19&country=

We have Marin Cilic as the top seeds on men's side, he is also the defending Champion.

Lucie Safarova is the top ladies seed, she got a wild card.   Defending Champion on women's side is Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

This is the last premier event for WTA players, there are great implications that will decide 3 more players going to Singapore, This event will be  the decider. As a result, Flavia Pennetta and Lucie Safarove both took wild cards to play, so did Karolina Pliskova. Venus is the cause of all this commotion, she may win another title in the Asian Swing and jump into the lead.

Qualifying rounds are under way.

Flavia has replaced Lucie as the top seed,  Aga is not in the draw anymore.

Looking at the order of play for Monday, I noticed there was a Russian in just about every match.

Today's results here:

http://www.kremlincup.ru/db/results/schedule/19/

#1 Ladies doubles team lost the first day, Vesnina lost in singles so she had to do something big, she knocked out the top doubles seed, did it without Makarova too. Bunch of other Russians advanced, naturally.

Main draw began. Qualifying was also completed today.

Here is the order of play for Tuesday, another full day is scheduled:

How is Troicki in the same side of the draw with Cilic? The official site shows Troicki as #2 seed, while atp website says he's seed #3, Bautista is #2. However when you check their rankings Troicki is #24, Agut is #27.

Maybe they did the seedings before the rankings got updated?

3 of the top 4 seeds made it to the final four:  (1) Cilic vs WC Donskoy  (nice for hosts to have their guy still playing) and (4) Kohli vs (2) Bautista Agut.

And we'll have #1 Cilic against #2 Bautista Agut contesting this final.  It can go either way.

On paper, Cilic should win.  But I do think Bautista-Agut is sturdy, and Cilic can go off the boil,  so we shall see.  Could be a good one, unless Cilic shows his USO form.
