The field is weaker as usual, due to the Olympics. Seeds:

1. Isner
2. Kyrgios
3. Anderson
4. Dolgopolov
5.Verdasco
6.Garcia-Lopez
7. Young
8. Fritz

Just when there is a tournament that I could not care about, it has complete coverage right from the first round on ESPN3.

Rajeev Ram was in the draw originally. But, he got a spot in the Olympics team thanks to BB dropping out. So, RR quits after the draw was made and an LL gets in. The LL is A. Krajicek and he almost beat Donald Young.

This tournament has been a pure haven for Isner , he has made it to the finals numerous times. I think bad Nicky will take the title from him this year.. Isner is starting to fad a bit due to injuries..:nono

This year, Isner has lost to lots of people to whom he is not supposed to.

Anderson is taken out by another young tower, Opelka, who is the boys Wimbledon champion in 2015 and has not done yet anything on tour, thus the low ranking, around 800 or so.

No need for all these folks. Taylor Fritz can take out Isner, assuming he wins the current match and gets to face him. :plot

Well Fritz is actually down a set right now. He has work cut out, just to face Isner.

Fritz has won the second set. Now, on to the decided. Espn3 carries it live, if any one cares.

Fritz breaks Bjorn in the opening game of 3rd set. Hopefully, he can finish this set off without much drama.

Fritz is playing good and casually. He got the e-surance break now. leads 4-1 with he having to serve now. Too much game for 18 year old in modern times.

Fritz gets his double break again. Now he will serve for the match with a score of 5-2.

Taylor Fritz holds and wins the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

He reaches his first ATP tour QF. Will face Isner. He has some minor shoulder issues, but will have a day of rest tomorrow. They will be facing each other for the first time. We will get a chance to see what Fritz is made of. It is seed #8 vs. seed #1. It is rank no. 60 versus rank no. 17. Taylor Fritz should be able to hold his own serves. I am not sure how much he will be able to handle Isner's bombs. But, if he could he has decent chance.

In the top half, all four quarterfinalists are from USA.

Good job for Taylor to rally back after dropping the first set.
He needs to get his mojo back on HC after the grass season fiasco...I am giving him a pass because he had to be really preoccupied with his marriage.

Not his first QF, Fritz was finalist in Memphis back in February.
