About Auckland

AucklandSkyline3Frames4v102.jpg

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city with a population of nearly 1.5 million. Auckland boasts a cosmopolitan blend of European, Maori, Asian and Polynesian cultures, as well as a natural environment that encourages visitors to embrace the Great Outdoors.

The city is based around 2 large harbours with the centrepiece being the Sky Tower which has views of the vibrant Viaduct Harbour district lined with bars and cafes. Auckland Domain, the city's oldest park, is based around an extinct volcano and home to the formal Wintergardens. Near Downtown, Mission Bay Beach has a seaside promenade.

It's rugged coastline and terrain was formed from volcanic ridges of lava flows. Known as the "City of Sails" - Auckland has more boats per capita than any other city in the world. Rangitoto Island sits majestically off the coast.

Auckland is regularly listed among the top 10 of the World's most liveable cities.

Delpo / Shapo is mouth watering

Thats a good one to look out for. Does anyone have info what kind of head is on Shapo's shoulders? I enjoy watching the guy play, most out of all the youngsters.

He is indeed quite fun to watch. From the little I saw, he does not seem to be a head case, but has some temper. BTW welcome back!

And neither is Khachanov, apparently. RBA d. Vesely, Ferrer d. Chung and Haase d. Gojo, just to update. Del Potro really should win this, if he's still in the hunt.

But, the winner of under 21 Milan tourney caused an upset by beating John Isner (someone in Nada's quarter at AO).

Would you care to untangle that for the rest of us?

This event was utterly dominated by the older guard.
SF : RBA def. Haase
Delpo def. Ferrer.

apparently the RBA - Haase match was a thrilling spectacle. Both players got a standing ovation at the end.

I was talking about Chung's win over Isner, which is old news now. Chung was shown the door by Ferrer in the next round though.

Chung was the winner of Milan Under 21 tourney last year.

Isner, who lost to Chung, is the R16 opponent of Rafa.

I just watched the highlights of that one and it was a really good-looking match. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm going to try to catch up with the final now. I'm disappointed for del Potro, but good for RBA...who knew he'd be playing such good tennis going into the AO? I'm going to have to revisit my draw challenge picks.
