Nearly as tribal as tennis!

OK, you're either an Apple advocate or an Android Apologist... (unless you're a windows pygmy).

Which camp are you and why?

I like the Iphone better.  I've tried the Samsung Galaxy and the Iphone just seems way more user friendly and convenient.  The only complaint is the spell correction on the Iphone is garbage.  I still text a crap ton so that can be annoying.

I'm firmly in the Android camp.  Apple are too restrictive for my liking. Android gives you a lot more freedom.  I also used to develop some mobile apps and Apple were a real pain in the arse to develop for - you used to have to pay for the privilege also. It did mean that the quality of the Apps in the Apple Store were probably better on average than Google Play but  I reckon since iphone 4, the high end Galaxy phones are also technically better.

The IPads are OK, I got given one by work, but my son uses it mainly. I use the MacBook Pro, but hate OSX and bootcamped it with Windows and use that more often than not.

I should have prefaced this by saying that I have relatively simple needs for my phone.  I know, for instance, that you can jailbreak an Android a lot easier than an Iphone.

I've never bothered getting an Ipad.  The Kindle Fire is fine for me and it cost about $500 less.  I do think I will get a MacBook the next time I actually buy a new laptop.  I haven't bought a new laptop in over 6 years because my brother gets a new Dell laptop every year and then gives me the most recent castaway  B-)  He also has gotten a Mac that has lasted many years.

Kind of off topic but Apple reports today.  Always a big day for the market.  In some ways I root for bad numbers for their Iphones and Apple in general because that will make them step their game up and come out with even more awesomeness.

This is a deceiving question since Android can be many things depending on the phone brand - Only Google phones - Google Nexus - manufactured by various companies by strict Google specifications are "true Android" or stock Android

What is Stock Android?

Google Nexus

Stock Android devices - that is Nexus devices - are always first in line to be updated by a new Android version

Well, they start with Android and then the manufacturer adds their own build, plugins, extensions... Although some companies like Amazon forked Android altogether.

It doesn't matter really because App Makers will make the Apps for Android phones and tablets whether they are Google or not.  Personally I prefer the Samsung range.

@twisted - most people don't need to jailbreak Android phones as you can put your own stuff on them anyway... unlike Apple where everything is tightly controlled by the App Store.  That's why I've always disliked iphones and these days the top end android phones have a similar or better technical spec.    I think Apple made another big mistake a few years ago not doing an Android App for iTunes.  It's allowed Google Play Music to establish a big foothold.

I use windows at work for my p.c, and also my work phone uses windows. But at home I'm all about them Apples! iphone, ipad, macbook pro, I even still have my good old ipod which I don't really use much anymore as it's just a neutered iphone in disguise. I could never go back from Apple now. I absolutely love it. Nothing better than when I'm reading my iPad in bed, and I've left my phone in another room, I can take calls or text messages from the iPad which is super cool! The only irritation is that apps like Whatsapp and Viber aren't accessible from the iPad, which I can never understand
