I've got some amazing animals & pet stories if I'm free to write about them but I can't post pictures on here since it went back to tennis frontier. I've tried but can't. Sorry.

I will just share the stories when I get time. Thank you very much. Me too. I'm an animal lover.

1 of my earliest memories was when I was at my Grandma's & I climbed on the dog's back & rode him like a horse. He laid down for me to get on. He did that with all the children who came who were a certain age. He was a lurcher. I must have been 1 or 2 because I could walk but wasn't too big & heavy to carry around the room. He loved that job & was very proud. He loved us stroking him too.

The last dog we had was an Alsatian/bearded collie cross. We tried training him but he did the exact opposite of what you said. He wasn't stupid. He just didn't want to obey you. The worst time was when we needed to bath him. He hated baths. If you mentioned baths he ran as far away from you as possible. In the end we had to pretend he was going for a walk, put the lead on him, walk him upstairs & put him in the full bath, hold him down & wash him which wasn't easy as he was big & heavy. As soon as you were finished & stopped holding him he jumped out of the bath, splashed everyone & ran downstairs. He wouldn't let you get the hairdryer out & use it on him as he didn't like that either & you had to keep him in for a certain period of time as if you didn't he went & rolled in something then you had to bath him again.

We have a big garden & we used to play tennis in the garden but we had to keep him tied up while we played as if we didn't he used to come running up to us, steal the ball if he got the chance & run away with it. Then he chewed it up so it was no good as it was all in bits.

We had to tie him up if people came to visit us who came on their bicycles too as if we didn't he used to chew their tyres until there were only 2 pieces of wire left.

He also liked sitting on your feet so you couldn't move & putting your hand over his head with his paw so you had to stroke him.

We had a parrot at 1 time & when he came out of his cage he used to fly to the tap if he wanted a bath & squawk if you didn't fill the sink for him. When you filled the sink he got in, had his bath then flew out soaking anyone underneath his flight path.

We also had a pair of lovebirds at 1 time. Mother had had this cactus for ages but the lovebirds liked the look of it & decided it looked nice to eat. By the time they'd finished there was only 1 stalk left.

We've also had ferrets. 1 of ours used to climb on your knee when he wanted a stroke & go to sleep. He also used to climb up me & get round the back of my neck acting like a scarf. They're amazing escape artists as they're very good diggers & very good climbers too as well as being small & thin so they can get through little gaps. The males are much bigger than females though & our male was quite big & heavy. It's very hard to ferret-proof gardens. You think you've managed to make everything escape-proof by putting a 6 foot fence around your garden & putting bricks in the soil near the fence so they can't dig out but they still manage to escape. We tried walking ours on harnesses but they wriggled out.

We took our male to the vet to be neutered & neither us nor the receptionist at the vet believed it when she said I want to weigh him now & he just got on the weighing scales, let her weigh him & just got off afterwards as if he understood.

He was asleep & we mentioned beef & he soon got up, sniffing round looking all over for it. He also used to climb up me & on my hands when I was eating something he liked the look of. He was very quick & heavy & I didn't even get chance to put my food to my mouth.

When I went to Benidorm, I went to Mundomar which is a sea-life centre & we saw the dolphin & sea-lion shows which were very good but we also saw the parrot shows. The parrots were brilliant. We saw parrots playing basketball, parrots riding bicycles, parrots getting in & out of deckchairs when asked & parrots adding up.

the Australian Magpie is quite a bird to behold. Trust me. I see 100's of them near my district and various parks nearby. Plus my football team the Port Adelaide Magpies is named after them. The boys are going great this year :good:

Aww bless! I couldn't even stroke my cockatiel like that. I didn't realise until you said that magpies were different in different parts of the world so wondered why they said the European Magpie was also known as the Pica Pica & left European off the answer for my quiz just typing the answer to the question "Pica Pica is another name for which common bird?" as Magpie.
