This is of course tongue in cheek ( a little), but some of Nadal's most devastating losses have been while he was wearing some item of pink clothing (like shoes, shirt, or wristband) -- e.g., Murray, Wawrinka, Ferrer, and now Cilic all at the AO, and of course the worse loss of all, to Soderling at the FO.

I haven't done an exhaustive study of all his bad losses of course.

But maybe the color somehow neutralizes his machismo, so Nadal's sponsors just need to stop making the Bull from Manocor wear pink.

Hey--sometimes you have to think outside the box!

Cheers

Yes -- but Fed's game is already pretty -- so why not a touch of pink?
Good idea! Someone needs to sneak in his locker room & dye all his pink things dark red or even black then give them a long spin in the tumble dryer so they're dry enough for him to wear. Lol.

Isn’t pink Nadal’s favorite color? It appears that he loses when wearing pink, but I suspect he wears a bit of pink most of the time so he is bound to be wearing pink when he happens to win or lose.

Rafa won the most recent USO in pink, in case you forgot. I do know this is a lampoon, and I hope you're making fun of your own prejudice against a "girlie" color. At least Nike realized that kitting out Roger in a faux military outfit a la The Village People, complete with gold man purse was a mistake, anyway. But I know you don't really think that clothes make the tennis player. ;-): If he's cursed, it's at the AO, not by the color of his shirt.

Yes, it's stunning how cursed he's been at the AO! (But that USO pink was just an outlier. Don't forget the pink when he lost to Soderling at the FO -- maybe the most devastating loss in his career. Gave Federer a chance to win his only FO... 2-slam swing in the overall count -- maybe changed tennis history)

No one forgets the pink v. Soderling, least of all you, apparently. I will still ask you if that isn't a bit of a prejudice against the color as too "girlie." Do you seriously buy into stuff like that? You said you weren't making much of it, but when I give you the USO win, you call it an "outlier." You say that you haven't catalogued Rafa's wearing of the pink. I offer you a recent win, in the color, and you poo-poo. I have to say, if you think Nadal wearing pink swung the '09 RG and Wimbledon, I bet there are a lot of Fed fans that would take umbrage with that.

It's a joke about a coincidence concerning some of his most heartbreaking losses. I wear pink, no prejudice here...

I was hoping for more devastating losses. ;)
Even a player's injury doesn't put a governor on dickishness? Oh, sorry...I meant to say selfishness and insensitivity. ;)

I wasn't trying to be a dick. I inferred from the original post that Nadal wearing pink resulted in bad losses, not losses due to injury. I would never wish injury on anyone...not even Nadal.

There is an argument that the original "pink shirt incident" was partly due to injury. That can't have escaped your notice. I didn't even think you were a Fed man and had skin in the game. I'm just a bit surprised at your pile-on.

* I'm well aware of the injury debate regarding the 2009 French Open match between Nadal and Soderling.
* I am a Federer fan. Youzhny, F3, and Kevin Anderson are the only players that I would ever want to beat Federer, and we know that ain't ever happenin'.
* I'm a Nadal hater and I want him to lose every time he plays. That said, I'd never wish injury on him.

Well, I guess that's pretty clear. Still, though, we've long been members of this community. Are you completely insensitive to the feelings of the fans of a guy that just went out due to injury? (And I don't only mean Chung. :-)2) You are not by far the only person that has been feasting on his Schadenfreude over the Nadal loss. But folks have been very kind to you in your predilection for the likes of Fognini and Youzhny, in particular, I think. You could reciprocate a little. @DarthFed hates Nadal as much as or more than anyone, I think. He has said some of the worst things I've ever heard a regular poster say about Nadal on the forums. But when Nadal loses in a Major, especially if he goes out with injury, Darth absents himself from that part of the conversation, and he has never rubbed salt into an immediate wound, that I can remember. He's a bare-knuckle fighter, but he's a fan that gets that another fan would need to lick her wounds for a bit, and respects that. I think that's classy.

Moxie: Once again, I do not wish injury on ANYone. I didn't interpret this thread to mean that Nadal gets injured when wearing pink. I interpreted it to mean that a lot of the "big" matches he has lost happened to be when he wore pink. Nothing more. Nothing less. I also interpreted this thread as being more of a light-hearted/joking thread. With all sincerity, my intention is not to "rub salt in the wound".
* Schadenfreude? I had to google that one.

Yeah, sorry, dude, you caught a lot of my last nerve on the subject. Some have felt quite happy to rub salt in the wound. But, "schadenfreude?" That's an excellent word and very useful in forums. Glad to have introduced you to it. In my circles, you owe me $20 for the word-of-the-day. :dance3:
