About Acapulco
The oldest and best known of Mexico's beach resorts, and located on its west coast, the city is set on a large bay, backed by high-rises and the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains. Acapulco once had a cache as a playground of the rich and famous, most notably in the 1950s-60s, hosting Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Frank Sinatra, and Brigitte Bardot, among others. It is beautifully situated, and still famous for its nightlife.
Acapulco is relatively close to Mexico City, a mere three-and-a-half hours drive. It is situated in a natural bay and very popular for watersports and aquatic activities.
