About Acapulco:

The oldest and best known of Mexico's beach resorts, and located on its west coast, The city is set on a large bay backed by high-rises and the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains. Acapulco once had a cache as a playground of the rich and famous, most notably in the 1950s-60s, hosting Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Frank Sinatra and Brigitte Bardot, amongst others. It is beautifully situated, and still famous for its nightlife.

Acapulco is relatively close to Mexico city, a mere 3 and a half hours drive. It is situated in a natural bay and very popular for water sports and aquatic activities.

The tournament was introduced to the ATP Tour in 1993, and began on the WTA Tour in 2001. It was played on outdoor red clay courts until 2013. The change to hard courts was introduced in 2014.

Happy to see Taylor scoring again a very good win against Chardy.
Harrison beating Cilic not that big surprise. Marin played on Sunday in Marseille then traveled 19 hours switching 3 planes. Add to that the jet leg, recipe for disaster.

Ferrer lost to Dolgopolov 4&4. I have been wondering if he's harboring an injury. That's just a suspicion. Or perhaps age is catching up with him? He's not so reliable of late. And, in fairness to D-Love, he's so tricky when he's on.

Querrey dismisses Nishikori in straights. That's a bit of a surprise.

Really fascinating match between Thiem and Tursunov. Dimitri is mounting a comeback after 1 1/2 years out. He's ranked past 1000, I think they said. He's playing aggressively and taking it to the kid, who is starting to look like a favorite in the tournament. And they're both scrapping for it.

Thiem managed to tough it out, coming through in the deciding set to take it 6-7 6-3 6-4.

Nice win for Dolgo.... You may be right Moxie... father time may be catching up a litle on Ferru.

Querrey played well last night, he never let Nishikori get a foothold in the match. His serve was good, and his groundies were more than adequate. Haven't seen Sam playing at that level for some time.

Thiem on his upcoming match with Dimitrov describes him as "such a great entertainer"*, not a competitor. Well said.
