2022 Roland Garros Men's Quarterfinals: Andrey Rublev vs. Marin Cilic

Another unlikely Grand Slam quarter-final match this year. Interestingly enough, they have already met this year also in a Slam (2022 AO 3R) in which Cilic won in four contested sets. However, Rublev leads H2H 4-2 over Cilic, although Cilic is 1-0 on Clay (2015 Geneva Open).

A toss-up match between the two players due to both being streaky players. While Cilic has the championship experience, he is also very prone mental lapses.

The stakes for both players:

For Rublev, a chance to reach his 1st ever Slam SF appearance. Knowing that he will not able to play Wimbledon, this is best opportunity to reach a Slam SF and possibly a Slam F.

For Cilic, he will try to become the 5th ACTIVE male player to reach the semifinals in ALL Slams joining of course, the Big Four.

You could almost knock me over with a feather that Cilic is in this one, but I don't have faith in Rublev either. So I'll go Rublev in 5, though the smart money says Cilic.

If this was a ATP 500 I would put my money on Rublev though it is a toss of a coin for me as well,
If Marin can duplicate his form in this match, like the way he did against Meddy...Marin to win in 4 sets on his least favorite surface mind you.
