2020 Wishlist: What do you hope to see?

Moving aside from predictions, what do you hope to see in 2020? Please try to be both at least vaguely realistic and more creative than "My favorite player wins everything."

My wishes are, in order of least to most likely (imo):

1) Next Gen wins a Slam.
2) The Big Three, as a group, win no more than two.
3) Roger wins one more Slam.
4) We get a very surprising Slam final by members of LostGen and/or older players (e.g. Dimitrov vs. Monfils...how fun would that be?).

I do think we'll see a new Slam winner, probably NextGen, with the main candidates being Thiem, Tsitsipas, Medvedev, and Zverev. I also think it quite possible that the Big Three only win two Slams, with the most likely scenario being one each for Novak and Rafa. Roger winning one more is less likely, but still possible. The fourth would be fun but is very unlikely, unfortunately.

I would also like to Next Gen continue to erode the dominance of older players, but this is so clearly happening that I don't even feel the need to list it. I particularly want to see Felix Auger-Aliassime break into the top 10 and become a real threat, but I think that's inevitable and whether it happens in 2020 or 2021 doesn't matter too much. I think it will happen in 2020, though, with 2021 being the year he becomes a true elite player (top 5, Slam contender).

My hope is to see Nadal get the slam record! And actually if possible to win the calendar grandslam and go undefeated.

I’d also like to see Auger Aliassime keep going up the rankings with a few solid titles!

My ultimate dream is for Nadal to win #21 against Federer in the final, and for Federer to present him with the trophy since he’d already be there! :heart:

I wish for Novak to win 1 slam.
I wish for Theim to win 1 slam.

I wish for Zverev to reach his first Major SF.

I wish for Tsitsipas and Medvedev to get to a Major finals in 2020.

I wish for Richard Gasquet to win a Masters title and I want for the 3 Musketeers (Gasquet, Monfils, or Tsonga) for at least one of them get to the FO Semifinals.

I wish for Theim to at least reach a Major finals in a non clay surface.

I wish for Del Potro to have a relatively healthy, injury free year.

I wish for Isner to make the SF of the USO.

I wish for Nick Kyrgios to reach the SF’s of the AO.

I wish for Tsitsipas & Theim to both be ranked in the top 4 YE.

I wish that none of my wishes negate any of my other wishes. LOL.

The number one thing I hope to happen is Nadal winning AT LEAST 1 major and remain healthy. If he can achieve both of those things at the end of 2020 season, I will be very happy! I just do not know if Nadal will able to win 2 majors and surpass Federer's record in 2020. But as long he wins at least 1 slam and remains healthy, I will be happy

I like your point that you hope that your wishes don't negate your other wishes. LOL. Good one. I think a lot of us have hopes for the youngsters to start to take real shape and charge. But, yes, I'd love for Rafa to win 1 or 2 Majors next year. As gaudy as it would be, I want him to win his 13th RG, and maybe another one, ideally the AO. I'd like to see Tsitsipas especially do well. I agree with hoping for del Potro to make at least a reasonable comeback, and for Kyrgios to play to his ability, without drama.

Well I’m waiting for Team Theim.

I will say this, IF the big 3 win all 4 Majors, game over. They won.

It doesn’t matter if the NextGen finally win in 2021 or 2022, it would be embarrassing if they are made to wait until the old Guard is 34 ,35 and 40.

Honestly, I do give Rafa and Novak a couple more, so I don't think it'll be the floodgates, but the dam broke a little this year, and I think they'll come harder for the ramparts in 2020.

It was a process, but my wishes and my rational projections are now decoupled. Anyway I had to think for a second to compile that wish list, so not so big wishes after all...

AO looks as open as ever. Big3 plus Thiem/Medvedev/Tsitsipas. I feel like they could all beat each other.

Novak at least 1-2 Majors
Novak raises his h2h against the robot, matches against bull as much as possible
Marin reaching his highest level again
If not not Novak or Roger: Daniil , Denis or Grigor to win a Major

No injuries for the Big3, lots of matches between them, Roger still playing at the end of 2020
