Serena leads the head-to-head 1-0, with the only meeting coming at Stanford 2 years ago.

Pliskova is a very good player, but she plays the same game that Serena does, and Serena is still better at it.

The players who have a chance to take Serena down are the super consistent retriever type- so Kerber or Caro (at her best) have a better shot.

I agree with the "fearhand". In order to remove Serena we need to have lot of balls coming back. Pliskova is not good in that categore. However, since she is good in serving, expect both sets to be having close scores such as 7-5, 6-4.

Not certain I can agree. Halep is the quintessential retriever type, very consistent, and very fast too boot, plus she has what Aggie and others of her stature lack...some pop in her serve and groundies. Yet, she was physically over-matched by Serena and dominated in every facet of the game, and Halep is a fitness freak. I think the only girls who can compete with Serena are those who have size, strength, and physicality....Woz, Angie have some size but not physicality. My point all along about Serena is still true....no one in the women's game can run her around and test her endurance and running ability. Williams looked like she was standing still most of the time and hitting winners from the baseline....Halep couldn't make her run at all, couldn't draw her in, couldn't lob over or pass her. It was embarrassing.

Last person to defeat both Wiliams sisters in the same grandslam was 2009 Klisters ( the famous foot fault match called by the line judge) , non slam (Jankovic Rome 2010)

So retriever types like Kerber and Wozniacki are the best shots at taking Serena down? They are 2-6 and 1-10 respectively in head to head against Serena. They are doing such a wonderful job with their chances they've had ;).

Serena has cleaned up errors from her game and that forehand has tightened up.Pliscova is not the type of player that can trouble Serena...players like Kerber Woz and Halep who move well and defend well are trouble for Serena.
Serena in two...
