For the fun of it, here are my thoughts on each match and predictions.

Gulbis v. Tsonga: Could be interesting, wtih Gulbis playing better of late and Tsonga struggling to put away Baghdatis. Tsonga is 3-2 against against Gublis, but hasn't beat him since 2009. I'm still going with Tsonga, but it will be a doozy, 3-2.

Cuevas v. Berydych: They've only met once, at Beijing last year with Cuevas winning. Giving Berdych's up-and-down play and Cuevas being a strong clay-courter, I'm going with Cuevas, 3-1.

Coric v. Bautista Agut: They've played three times, with Bautista Agut going 2-1 but Coric winning their last match. Agut has won their only two matches on clay and is the favorite, but I'm going with Coric in a long match, 3-2.

Djokovic v. Bedene: Is there any doubt? Novak 3-0.

Zverev v. Thiem: To me this is the jewel of the day, or at least the match I'm most interested in. Dominic is up 2-0, both matches coming this year and on clay, but both going to three sets. I expect him to beat Sascha Z, but it is nice to see these guys go at it again. It is one of the few young pup matchups that's happened, let along three times. Thiem wins 3-1.

Goffin v. Almagro: The battle of third tier (top 20) players, one present and one past. Almagro's won their only three matches, but the last was three years ago - Goffin is due. Goffin, 3-1.

Ferrer v. Lopez: Another interesting match - a battle of 34-year olds. David is up 9-6, including 5-0 on clay, with Lopez only winning a single set of twelve. Ferrer 3-0.

Apart from Novak's match, all other match-ups are fairly evenly poised and so this may finally be an interesting day of tennis matches.

Thiem with a couple more wins and some luck could be a top 10 player after this French Open, but I like his work horse build up to the top.

Zverev up 4-1 in the tiebreaker. It's like watching an African documentary out there. Two Zebras and a Hippo. :snicker.

When Thiem got the break for 2-0, I thought the set was over. Zverev broke right back with some pretty big hitting. Well done.

I still think Thiem pulls this out I think Zverev needs to do this in three. I think anything more than 3, and he loses.

check again

Thiem woke up...it's pretty interesting to see 2 rising stars fight

It is. It shows how one has more experience and can adjust like Thiem did after losing the set

Thiem moves so much better than Zverev it's almost unfair, so it's no surprise that he is losing on clay. I'd like to see them play at the US Open though, that would be one hell of a match. I want Theim or Gulbis in the semi. Screw Clownga, he is disgusting and would lose 5-0 up in the third set. Regardless who makes the semi, STAN YOU NEED TO SAVE TENNIS AGAIN.
