The two premier players in tennis facing off yet again. How do you see this one unfolding?

Novak in 4.

Roger's playing some sublime tennis. Novak was striking the ball well today, and it seems he's played his way into form. It could go either way, but I'm also picking Djoker in four.

Funny how your thinkings and preferences can change. I was always a murray fan but back in 2011 i supported novak when he is not playing against murray. Even against federer in FO semi and USO semi i root for novak. But this yr in both wimbledon final and now USO final i want federer to win.

Roger probably can't play worse than he did in the Wimbledon final but the problem here is its a tougher ask to begin with. Harder to get cheap points on serve and Roger will have to endure and eventually win a decent amount of long points. The other disadvantage is he probably has to get it done in 3 or 4. I think Nole wins in 5.

Federer in 4. Hope it's more exciting than today's pair of semis. :)

I want Roger to win and get even for those 2 semis he lost to Djokovic that he should have won. Especially 2010 when Nole deliberately disrupted his service rhythm on match point. Yes, I have been harboring that grudge for 5 years...and I actually like Nole. :lolz:

I have no idea. Just flipped for it. Djokovic in five. This was the final we were supposed to have last year. But this year's Fed is better than last year. Just make it a good on boys.

Djokovic will join this elite bunch with a win in the final!

Judging from the last three weeks, Fed should have a decent shot. But I guess i'll have to accept that, going fro from the last three years, he'll probably take a set and then watch Nole hoist the trophy.

No question about it, I'm for Rogak Fedovic. Seriously, though...I'll be happy with whichever way it goes. Not sure who I'll be pulling for. Gonna have to wait until the match to see which way I lean. That said, I hope it ends up being a five set classic!

Or...maybe Roger will learn from Serena imploding today and seize the moment. Time is not on his side. He knows that. I also think he's got less pressure on him that Nole has. He's 5-for-6 if US Open finals even if he hasn't been there in 6 years. Nole is 1-for-5 and seems to have problems sealing the deal in the finals in Flushing Meadows. It's like his 0-for-6 in Cincinnati. He's human, so you know he has to be thinking about how many finals he's lost - especially his first final against Roger in 2007 when he had a lot of chances to win that match.

I have not seen a point from either semi, so I will assume both are playing great.

I am afraid (as a Fed fan) the same story will take place on Sunday. Nole is just too solid for Roger, and he always shows up. For Roger to beat Nole, he has to seriously get in Nole's head and disrupt his game and his mind, whether through SABERING or whatever, and keep at it all match. And serve out of his mind.

I think a combination of Stan and Roger would be the ideal player to beat Nole . Roger could use some extra power against Nole.

I think Nole gets this in 4 or 5 and I hope I am wrong.

What is "sabering"? Is it when the return of serve is "half-volleyed"?

Is that what that means? I was afraid to ask. I'm still trying to catch up with "sledging". :cover This is what happens when you haven't lived in the States since 1991.

The announcers implied that, but it was the first time I heard the term used in tennis.

I thought of Star Wars when they mentioned it...
