I'm impressed by Vika's QF run. I think what she needed in this comeback was match play and she's improving match by match.

That being said I think Makarova is always tricky.

She's so unpredictable. She always seems to come out of nowhere for a deep run. Suddenly she's there and you can't help but think: woah, I had forgotten about here completely.

I agree with both points. I went with Vika in 3. Interestingly, no one, so far, has picked either to win it in straights.

There is no doubt at the moment that Makarova is playing the cleaner tennis,but Azarenka's fighting spirit should not be discounted in this match,though I doubt that will get her the win in this match.

She's playing the same way she did last year. Remember? Vika didn't play well until the final. No one made her pay for all the DF's, inconsistency and scratchy play. It's the same thing here. She went through an entire tournament playing C level tennis and got used to getting by. It becomes a habit. Now that she's coming back from injury, her best level (2012) seems so far away.
