As I said, we could do a much better poll than ESPN, and hopefully a good conversation. This is a multiple-choice poll.

Good one.
I've one bold extra option:
Petra will win her second Slam.

Great poll, Moxie!

My votes:

- Serena gets No. 18 -- with three more chances, I think she'll get at least one (probably RG or Wimbledon)

- Azarenka wins a Slam -- I have a feeling she'll get the USO

- Serena ends year No. 1 -- she'll win the most premier events, or at least go deep enough at enough tournaments to remain year-end No. 1.

If only this would come true. Petra has the weapons to win Wimbledon again, but can she hold herself together for seven matches? I doubt it.

In her case it all depends on her health. If she can stay healthy for let's say half a year to be able to train properly she is able to be on enough to be threat again. But thats these ifs...

While I agree that Petra does have more health problems than others, she lacks the mental fortitude to do well consistently. She was healthy for AO. Look what happened. Based on skills, she deserves to be ranked two. Based on everything else, she deserves top five if things go well. Top ten if things go as they have been.

This is bold with a capital B, let's see if working with Stepanek's fitness trainer helps....I always felt some extra fitness work would help with some of her breathing problems. The mental stuff...well no clue:s

You should have let us see who voted what. It would have make it more interesting. I voted 4 choices.

You hit the nail on the head. I wanted to say something about her fitness and you were first to do it.
Imo, Petra's case is much more simple than it looks! Her fans are worried about her head and mental strength. You are wrong! The real problem is her fitness! She is simply over weight and she carries too many extra KGs for this level of tennis.
If she loses the extra weight (centered around her belly) she will run faster, her legs will be released off the extra pressure, she will get to the balls quicker (Simona, don't laugh at the back ;) ).
One thing leads to another... better fitness releases the mental pressure because she will start winning more matches.
Same problem as Laura Robson. Players at this level must be honest to themselves and realistic. If you have a problem, deal with it. Do not be embarrassed about it, just do it.

Good idea! I adjusted it so that you can now see who voted for what.

Speaking of fitness, I think Ana Pavyluchenkova has benefitted from losing a little weight. She was heavier a couple years ago...she's not the slimmest of slim, but her movement is much better.

Yes that's obvious, but if you aren't healthy you just can't improve your fitness. That's it.

Is her health issue related to her over weight? I am just asking seriously. If so, then you are right.

To be honest I don't see any logic in your response.

I know what you mean, and you can say that my question made no sense.
What I mean to say is that she is too slow and her shoots are not accurate. She does not execute properly on the court. It may be because of her health and the fitness is just in second priority.
If that's the case (her health being the real problem) then I agree with you.
It took me 4 long lines instead of one short line to say that you may be correct.

I would definitely not say her health is priority above her fitness. What I mean is that she is trying to improve her fitness and an illness interrupts the process of improving and she is in the beginning again. And if this happens many times during the season than it's just very difficult to improve your stamina.

Yes, that's what I meant after I thought more about what you said. I was not aware enough of her health issues.

"Serena gets her 18" is the most likely one. All others except for "Wozniaki, Halep, Iankovic, Cibulkova win a Slam" are possible, but far from certain.
