An OK draw for her being in Vikas quarter.

Here's a fun #AODraw #fact - Serena WIlliams turned pro in 1995,
her first rnd opponent, Ash Barty was born in 1996.

Depending on how the first three rounds play out, things could already be interesting by the R16. I would love to see a JJ/Maria match as JJ is playing well finally.

Li gets Petra and Serena. What bad luck!!

Let's see if Serena could tie the American record here. We are witnessing history in the making.

Ana Ivanovic will get punishment for beating Venus at the hands of Lil Sis.

This theme seems to repeat.

I think she will get the record here. She is overdue for another AO title. And Brisbane was a great warm-up for her. Especially meeting and beating two of the players, Vika and Maria, likely meet her in the AO final (who by the way would have to play each other to reach Serena). Serena's H2H records against Li Na and Petra are even better than hers against Vika and Maria. So neither of them should create a problem. She just needs to be mindful not to look past the rest of the field.

I like this draw. It is a very balanced draw.

Lets see, I will break each quarter down by counting top 20 players and previous greats or slam winners.

Top Quarter.
Serena, Stosur, Ana, Sara, Vinci and Flipkens may be we can add Daniela and Vera.

2nd Quarter.
Li, Petra, Kerber and Lisicki. Add Venus(who has to face Makarova in the first round) and that wraps it up here.

3rd Quarter.
Masha, JJ, Simona and Carla, may be we can add Domi(since she is #20) and Franny but these last two have to play in the first!

Last quarter.
Vika, Aga, Caro, Sloane and Svetlana.

My thinking is Li got the easiest draw, Followed by Serena, Masha and last Vika.
Vika has the kitchen sink coming at her here.

Really, I think Li got the most dangerous quarter and half. I would say of the top 4 Vika and Masha got got the somewhat more workable draws. Serena's draw is decent too. I think Li is the one who got a tough outing.

I think Serena got the toughest half.

Stosur, Razzano, Makarova, Lisicki, and Kerber

5 players who have recently beat her.

Also top players Kvitova, Venus, Li Na, Ivanovic,

along with tough newcomers like Keys, Safarova,

Bouchard, and Pironkova.

Her first round opponent wasn't even born yet

when she turned pro.

I believe both draws pan out about the same, pretty equally balanced.

The way things are going for her, I don't think a tough draw can even exist for Serena.

I am pulling for Bouchard and Pirokova. I like their style of play and how they are on court. Plus, they very likely will be future stars of the WTA.
