Hey Keli, remember years ago we spoke about Elina not having any weapons to put pressure on the big babe tennis players on WTA..Do you think she has improved or is it a woman who is going to become the breadwinner of the Monfils home when La Monf retires in December

She has improved alot. Her FH has more juice and she beefed up her serve. I'm sorry I still don't see her winning a slam. Too many big hitters to go through. In answer to the household question, yes she will become the primary breadwinner. She makes a very good living getting to SF and Finals.

Her 2nd serve is weak, is was under the pump all match against Iga, she did save a lot of BPs on her serve, and at times found her first serve when needed
Players have worked out years ago to go hard and flat into Iga's fhand with results, that was the plan from Elina in the match and it worked

she will do a similar plan against Coco. She will go hard to the FH and be aggressive on the 2nd serve return trying to bait her into DF

Coco Gauff (3) vs Elina Svitolina (7)

They have met 5 times with Svitolina holding a H2H 3-2 after winning both of their match ups this season
This will be their first meeting on clay.
Svitolina know what it will take to beat Gauff for a third time straight, she enters the final with plenty of momentum, her wins over Gauff this season are part of a 27-7 record, she has already reached 2 WTA1000 finals in 2026, Dubai and now Rome.A victory on Saturday would giver her a milestone 20th career title.
Svitolina hasnt been to Rome in 8 years, but the 2 times Rome champion knows how to win in the Italian capitol..

Gauff has yet to win in Rome, she has the most experience on Court Centrale being in the final last year.
Gauff is 11-4 in championship matches, win rate of 73%, that is just behind Svitolina at 79%, 3 of those losses have come on clay, but won her most recent final on this surface 2025 French Open title.

I feel this will be a 'Cat and Mouse' encounter between both players.
