These are the best playoffs I can remember. Wow!
- What on earth are the Celtics doing playing with their food??
- Nuggets - OKC looks like it could go 7
- I'm devastated that Steph has this hamstring injury. I secretly thought the Warriors would surprise people by beating the Timberwolves comfortably. It's still possible they sneak a series win, but now it looks unlikely. If they can just hold on for a bit and give him a chance to recover
- What is it with Donovan Mitchell teams? Granted there are injuries this time, but I remember his time with the Jazz. Spectacular regular seasons and could never even get to conference finals. Looking like the Pacers are going to handle them comfortably
I have to preface this by saying I have barely seen any of the playoffs…partly because I don’t like the NBA product much anymore but mainly because my cable package randomly changed after I complained about the price. They lowered it and now I don’t get ESPN or TNT. I’m sure some fellow Yanks on this board know all about that and I’ve been too busy/lazy to get it fixed.
I still am following it religiously and it is shocking like you said, this feels like the most open playoffs now that I can remember, particularly if the Nuggets take down OKC.
- I am surprised but not totally shocked that the Pacers are going to win that series.
- But I’m beyond stunned that the Celtics are likely going down now. And obviously terrible news for Tatum as he likely has a torn Achilles.
- Awful break for the Warriors with the Steph injury, especially after winning game 1. I do think that’d have been a war of a series even after that. Coming in I figured Minnesota would win that but after dropping game 1 at home they’d have likely been slight underdogs if Steph was playing.
- OKC and Denver has been bizarre mainly because the 2 frontrunners for MVP are struggling a lot more than expected. At the end of the day, Jokic is easily the best player and it’s a huge advantage. So I feel like this will either be OKC in 6 or Denver in 7
- While the West winner will be favored I wouldn’t totally discount the East champ’s chances in the Finals, though OKC if they right the ship would definitely be sizable favorites.
- This is going to be the most intriguing offseason in quite some time. I do think Giannis time in Milwaukee is done but it’s not a guarantee yet. Dallas getting #1 pick and San Antonio getting #2 is wild. Seems like SA could put together a good trade package for the Bucks as could Houston and now the Mavs, though I do not expect they’d trade Cooper but who knows. The other team I see is OKC but only if they lose early in the playoffs would they possibly look to make a move like this. On top of this there is likely going to be some other big moves which will alter the landscape.
- And amazing news yesterday which will definitely have me watching more bball next year; MJ is going to be a “special contributor” for NBC for their NBA games. I’d imagine he will be interviewing people before and after the games but that’s my guess. If he was broadcasting we’d have already heard that and the basketball world would be erupting. I can only imagine how much they are paying him, probably more than any player’s contract. But imagine him interviewing the OG’s in LeBron, Curry. KD, or new stars and the great Euro players, etc. it’d be awesome.
